Air Tube Earphones – Why I Love Them
These Air Tube Earphones are the Rolls Royce of earphones. They are the highest quality ones that I have ever seen and I am super proud to have them in my store.
These hollow plastic tubes are 15.5cm and their role is to allow sound to travel to your ears without wires – this creates distance from the wiring, an important step in reducing exposure.
As well, the wires (only present in the lower portion) are braided to reduce magnetic fields.
There is an answer-hang-up button near the microphone which means that you can actually use your phone hands free.
Unlike previous models of air tubes that I’ve seen and used, these have a sturdy joint where the wires separate.
They are going to last you so well.
You are also able to use your mobile phone or other device without holding it – you can put it down on a table or chair to create distance from your device. Which is ideal.

What Is It?
Air Tube Earphones come in either a pack of one or either a pack of three. They come in rose or gold (this is my personal favourite). In my opinion, they are just stunning. Specifications and details about these fabulous Air Tube Earphones:
- Plastic and anodised aluminium components
- 3.5mm plug
- 1.2m cable
- Featuring an answer/hang-up button (located on the microphone) that works reliably on iPhone 4S and up, as well as Samsung and other phones. This means that you can use your phone hands-free.
NOTE Regarding Earpieces of these Air Tubes
All of our air tubes all have tips that look like the gold ones – none of them are pink.
How to Use Your Air Tube Earphones
Suitable for mobile phones, music players, tablets, computers and more. These stereo Air Tube Earphones have good sound quality and are useful not only for phone calls, but also listening to music, podcasts and joining webinars.
Note Regarding Newer iPhones
Newer iPhones have a lightning plug, so to use these Air Tubes, you will need to use an adaptor. Office supply stores stock them for about $15.
These Air Tubes (or any other earphones) are not going to completely eliminate health risks. They do enable you to use your phone without holding it, and also provide the desired minimum gap with wiring to reduce exposure to EMF. Regardless of which accessories you use, the following still applies:
- Minimise use of your mobile phone.
- Use it for SMS rather than voice calls.
- Limit calls to 2 minutes – shorter is better.
- Use your phone on speaker phone (and do not hold it while it is in use).
- Do not keep your mobile phone on or against your body.
- Turn it off when not in use.
A Swedish scientist once told me that a safe distance from a mobile phone is 5km (yes, kilometres)!
